Saint Nicholas According to Christian teaching, the ship of faith brings the soul perished on the waves of life on earth in the haven of eternal life, so the only have not been previously unseen monument to seamen, fishermen and travelers who are victims of the water element, it was decided to give the appearance of floating on the sea a huge ship, on the upper deck which is a temple, called named the patron saint of sailors and travelers - St. Nicholas. The temple, resembling the superstructure of large warships with mezzanine windows as portholes - the eternal symbol of the unity of earthly and heavenly everyone's life. And hanging over the sea cliff to the south of the church - decided to give the appearance of the bow of the ship. At its height the temple is unique in the Crimea. on all four facades of a temple in the form of a huge cross inscribed image the most revered saints in the Orthodox world. Images made in the technique of Byzantine mosaics and the excellent quality and amazing in its scale - the height of each panel 15 m, an area of 60 sq.m. The eastern part of the church adorns the image of St. Nicholas and the rest of the facade are decorated with images of Our Lady: Our Lady of Athos, Yaroslavl Oranta - 'The Sign', as well as the Virgin Mary - Veils. The entire area around the temple laid multi-colored granite slabs in the Florentine mosaic technique. Decorative anchors and models of ships, which decorate the temple from all sides, natural anchors, anchor chains, bollards, ships' bells, bell, memorial plates in after famous marine wrecks reinforce the impression of memorial purpose of the complex.
